Home Sweet [Hot] Home :)

Hello, everyone! My parents and I made it to California on Sunday without a problem and since then we've been thoroughly enjoying this season's record-high temperatures of 93-98*! It has been truly beautiful outside - no humidity and with a light breeze. It's supposed to get back to the 60s/70s later this week but that is still much nicer than mornings-of-34 in DC.

Well, there is good news to share! I found a new home! I also found out that my stuff will be getting here Thursday morning - much earlier than expected and [very lucky for me] just in time for my parents to help me beautify my new space! They will fly out Friday morning.

Here's the low-down:
I basically live in my own house. A super sweet couple [with a daughter my age] converted their 3-car-garage into a beautiful 1br cottage. I have my own gated entry, parking space and the prettiest patio area under a big pretty tree. The place has 6 skylight and great windows (SO much natural light - it's amazing) and a full kitchen, including a gas stove. I also have my own washer and dryer and tons of storage.

I'll post the "before" pictures today, and the "after" pictures later this week. My mom has already helped me start my herb/veggie garden and my dad bought me a grill!! I am so so excited. My house is 7 miles from work in Sunnyvale, CA and I have easy access to almost every ethnic cuisine I could think of, as well as my "comfort stores" - like Target, World Market, etc.

 - because another shot of the kitchen is necessary!

My yard has producing lemon, plum and apricot trees, too! When I say 'producing', I mean that some of the lemons growing by my patio are the size of a large grapefruit ... I'd say softball-size, but I really think these lemons are bigger. We had lemonade made from them when I signed my lease .. it was sooooo good. I can't wait for my [boxed] kitchen to arrive!!

Some of the happenings thusfar? We've hit Ikea (yay!) and Home Depot and various nurseries. I've also started looking at a new road bike. Tomorrow I think we'll take a day trip North of SF to some wineries Jora and I have been to and loved. She flys in Thursday night and we're having dinner with my parents and her mom and brother. I'm very excited to see all of them! My parents fly out Friday, Jora flys back to school on Sunday. It's a home in the making :)

(Dad had his very first Pinkberry at this beautiful shopping plaza called Santana Row.)
