North Concourse!!

So ... I just received a call from my future boss in NorCal! It looks like I'm going to be working on newly-acquired work at the Airport - the North Concourse. This is what was written about the project in this past month's Batterboard (the monthly HPCC Personnel newsletter):

A Parting Look — At Finishing Touches

Not to be overshadowed by the larger project elements that make up the San Jose International Airport Terminal Area Improvement Program (TAIP), Hensel Phelps’ work in the airport’s new
North Concourse is growing and gaining momentum. The City of San Jose has contracted
with Hensel Phelps to complete the North Concourse, which was built under a separate contract prior to Hensel Phelps being awarded the TAIP program. These finishing touches include signage, gate podiums, a new fixed jet bridge, and modifications to the existing apron paving.

The current contract value is $4.4 million with possible additional work to follow. Potential scope additions include a complete central plant upgrade, M/E/P infrastructure for Airport Concessionaires, and various fire alarm and access control items. This additional work is a direct result of the hard work and dedication of the entire TAIP staff, including the outstanding personnel making the North Concourse element a success. They are: Jim Gilardi, superintendent; Wayne Saxerud, consultant; Purva Gujar, office engineer; Sean Malloy,
scheduling engineer; and Rich Lewis, project manager.

Wayne has worked with Hensel Phelps for over 25 years - he retired as an Operations Manager and returned as a consultant. We'll be working together with the city on this project as it continues to grow in scope and timeline. The original finish-date was December 2009, but with the new M/E/P upgrades and the continually increasing amount of work we're receiving from the city, it could run into next Spring or Summer. :) I'm very excited to become a part of this unique project!
